Before we celebrated our landmark 15th anniversary, we had to set the bar impossibly high—and the 2023 SportAssist Annual Golf Tournament did exactly that! Returning once again to the spectacular, sweeping greens of the world-class Bear Mountain Golf Course in Langford, B.C., this year’s event was an absolute masterclass in community, entertainment, and pure heart.
From the pristine fairways to the buzzing clubhouse, the energy was unmatched, proving once again why this tournament is the highlight of the summer calendar.
Star-Studded Talent and Endless Laughs
An unforgettable tournament requires unforgettable personalities, and the 2023 lineup brought the house down. A massive, roaring thank you goes out to our incredible celebrity guests who lent their time, talent, and unparalleled energy to make this year one for the history books:
- Terry Ryan: The legend himself, perhaps known best to fans as the sharp-tongued “Ted Hitchcock” from Shoresy. Terry brought his trademark wit, hockey grit, and legendary locker-room charisma to the course, keeping everyone thoroughly entertained from the first tee to the final putting green.
- Dan Duvall: Our favorite brilliant comedian, who ensured that the laughter never stopped flowing, bringing top-tier comedic timing and joy to the entire crowd.
- Ken Mason: An extraordinary performer whose captivating talents elevated the event’s atmosphere, turning a phenomenal day of golf into a true, first-class entertainment experience.
Spotlighting Our Next Generation of Champions
While the golf and entertainment were spectacular, the true heartbeat of SportAssist is—and always will be—the youth we serve. This year, we were profoundly honored to celebrate two incredibly deserving young athletes from Royal Bay Academy:
- Naythan (16): A powerhouse on the lacrosse field.
- Justin (13): A rising star dominating the basketball court.
Both Naythan and Justin are the absolute definition of exemplary community members. Not only do they shine in their respective sports, but they also rolled up their sleeves and played a vital, hands-on role in helping our team set up this entire tournament. To honor their hard work, dedication, and leadership, we were thrilled to present them both with brand-new, top-tier athletic gear! Seeing the smiles on their faces is exactly why we do what we do, and we cannot wait to see where their sports journeys take them next.
